Empaths In The Media

Have you ever thought you were like some of the characters on TV who are Empaths?

The earliest empath on TV that I’ve found (and I could be wrong) was a character named Gem on an episode of Star Trek called ‘The Empath’. Here is a picture of her.

The next Empath that TV produced was another Star Trek TNG character, Dianna Troy.

There was also a particular episode with another Empath in it, called ‘Tinman’

Then came Charmed. Who could forget the episode called ‘The Primrose Empath’ where Prue becomes an Empath?

And on top of that, who could forget one of the most famous Empaths of all, Phoebe, from Charmed.

And now we come to the most recent addition to this strange collection of television Empaths. Peter Patrelli, from the show Heros, is said to have the gift of Empathic Mimicry, which is the power to take on others skills and abilities through empathy.

Can you see yourself in any of these characters? Can you relate to them? Did they inspire your thoughts about being an Empath?

While it is true that the Empathic movement is growing at a considerable rate, in part because of the media’s portrayal of us, there is much more to it than that. Is gift of empathy like that of Phoebe or Prue? Is it like Deanna Troy? Is it like Peter Patrelli? Or is it something that goes much deeper than that? Thats for you to decide.

But don’t limit yourself based on what you see on TV. The truth is far more complex than what is viewed there, because it does not exist in the outside world. Empathy exists within you.
